Ted Straten graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands with a master’s in mechanical engineering, specialising in combustion engines. Ted started his career developing medium-speed diesel engines for ship propulsion and power plants at Stork-Wärtsilä Diesel in the Netherlands. He continued in advanced engineering at DAF Trucks in the Netherlands within the engine development depart­ment and subsequently led the development team for engine emission control systems for European and North American applications. Today at BOSAL in Belgium, he is the Vice President of Global Sales.

Dr. Cedric Rouaud began his professional career in 2000 at Groupe Renault as a re­search engineer, while fulfilling his doctorate diploma in the University of Poitiers. Over­all, he spent eight years at Groupe Renault working as a research engineer and project leader. In 2008, he joined Ricardo as a principal engineer responsible for thermal management and waste heat recovery systems development. Since 2011, he has been a chief engineer in the engine product group of Ricardo. He is also a technical expert in thermal management and waste heat recovery systems for conventional and electrified powertrain in vehicles. During his career, he has managed and developed many proj­ects, including: development of technologies for reducing CO2 emissions in gasoline and diesel engines, thermal management of hybrid electric vehicles, development of exhaust heat recovery systems for passenger cars, HDD, railway, thermo-hydraulic simulations, thermal management of twin-turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines, simulations and tests, powertrain and vehicle tests.

Nicolas started his career in the automotive industry 20 years ago, working for ma­jor Tier 1 and chemical companies (Electricfil Industrie/Unifil Electronic/Sintertech/ Federal Mogul) in France, Turkey and Brazil. He held various increasing positions in project management and sales and marketing. Nicolas was appointed by Solvay En­gineering Plastics in 2007 to develop the thermal management segment. He became application development manager in 2009 prior to holding the position of automotive business development manager for EMEA in 2011. In 2016, Nicolas took the posi­tion of global e-mobility leader to develop the emerging market of electric vehicles, hybrids and fuel-cell vehicles. In November 2018, Nicolas was appointed automotive sales development manager by Solvay Specialty Polymers to develop e-mobility and automotive market with innovative solutions based on ultra-polymers, high perfor­mance polymers and fluoropolymers.

Robert Dorner completed his PhD in 2006 at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in conjunction with University College London. After that he moved to Lehigh Univer­sity to work on converting bio-syngas to methanol in collaboration with the company Enerkem. Subsequently, he worked at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C., where he developed catalysts converting CO2 to value-added hydrocarbons. Af­ter having worked in R&D developing air protection technologies at Nalco/Ecolab, in 2012 he moved to BASF, where he is now working as a senior application engineer/ chemist in the field of mobile emission control (heavy duty diesel), supporting OEMs to meet regulations with suitable aftertreatment systems. He is the author of several papers and patents in the field of catalysis.

Christoph Hossfeld graduated in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich. He got his PhD from the same University in the field of Thermodynamics. In 2000 he started his career in the exhaust business as a CFD engineer. After four years Christoph changed to the predevelopment department, dealing with different topics. In 2009 he started working on EHRS as an innovation program manager. 2015 he was nominated as Exhaust Heat Recovery Product Expert with Faurecia Clean Mobility, in charge of the global internal trainings, the IP watch, Benchmarking and global infor­mation exchange within FCM on related topics. He is involved in all running develop­ments related to Exhaust Heat Recovery within FCM from the technical side.

Peter Lakin is a chartered engineer with an MBA from INSEAD in France. He has over 20 years of experience on the management boards of several large automotive companies and he is an expert in the introduction of new technologies, which help to reconcile the automobile with the environment. As President of the INSEAD AAF Auto + Mobility Club, he has built an extensive relationship network across the mobility sector. He has been an advisor to the European Parliament on vehicle emissions and he has written several articles on the future of mobility. In 2019 he founded Acompani to offer consulting services to large and small companies, with a particular focus on environmentally friendly technologies within the mobility sector.

Dr. Richard Dixon, DE

Richard Dixon is a principal analyst for MEMS and author of more than 50 MEMS-related consulting and market research studies. He is a world-renowned expert on automotive MEMS and magnetic sensors used in safety, powertrain, and body applications. Along with supporting the overall activities of the MEMS and sensors group, his responsibilities include the development of databases that forecast the markets for more than 20 types of silicon-based sensors in more than 100 automotive applications. In addition, he has supported organisations with future scenarios for sensors in cars and has supported many custom projects for companies in the automotive supply chain. In his prior post at WTC, Dixon was a senior MEMS analyst where he led research on physical sensors and was the co-author of the NEXUS Task Force Report for MEMS and Microsystems 2005-2009. He has also led commercialisation and road-mapping activities on European Commission-funded technology projects, including detailed MEMS chip cost analysis studies. Dixon worked previously as a journalist in the compound semiconductor industry and has years of experience as a technology transfer professional at RTI International, where he provided business and market intelligence for early-stage technologies. Dixon graduated from North Kent University with a degree in materials science and earned a doctorate from Surrey University in semi-conductor characterisation. He speaks English and German.

Dr. Juan-Carlos Martin started his research career in the catalysis, petroleum and petro-chemistry research centre at the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He received his PhD in chemical engineering from The Complutense Uni­versity of Madrid in Spain. He’s worked on SCR-DeNOx and has more than 18 years of experience, 12 of those in R&D in heterogeneous catalysis for oil and automotive industries. For the last six years he has been involved in the development of aftertreat­ment systems for emission control for on-road and off-road applications.

Petrica Dulgheru joined BOSAL ECS in 2014 as an emissions engineer working on emissions related innovations. Previously, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Universite Libre de Bruxelles with Prof. N. Kruse studying performance and durability of automotive exhaust catalysts. Before that, he worked briefly for the European Commission in DG ENTERPRISE (2010) and as a teaching assistant in University College Dublin (2007-2011). Petrica received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from University of Bucharest (2006) and PhD in heterogeneous catalysis from University College Dublin (2011).

Then with Robert Bosch GmbH from 2005 to 2014 as Customer Support and Project Management for airbag sensors. Currently Dr. Behnke is Group Product Management for Emission Measurement Systems with AVL ETS GmbH.
